Gary Clark Jr. keeps getting better. "Low down rolling stone", "What about us", "Pearl Cadillac " are gonna be classics. Btw, I'm pretty much a hard line right winger and I still love the song "This Land", I can appreciate where his emotions are coming from. To the folks that want to rag on him about it: you are missing out on one of the best artists of our generation.

I love how the labels think putting divisive tracks in albums will change the minds of buyers...I could care less how angry this guy is...in fact how is it that much different from most people in the spotlight....he has a good sound period.

I love that there are still talented musicians (Mr. Clark and his band) making, playing, and recording music. His best album so far.

I love most of the previous albums he has done. This one seems like he is going in a different direction, and that is fine but it’s not what I turn on a Gary Clark Jr album to hear. There are some statement songs on this album where he is using the platform he’s earned to express his views. I’m good with that as we all should be. Not that the previous reviews show that. You don’t have to like or buy the songs but not your place to condemn them either for what they say. I do hope we get more of what made me love GCJ in the first place on future albums and I think dirty dishes blues show that we will!

I’ve always been a fan of Gary Clark Jr. because of his unique blues sound and the fact that he hails from Austin, as I do. This album only increased my respect and admiration for him. Yes, the title track is a bit political, but the music and great and the message even better. For those of you giving this one star solely because of the title track, listen to the rest of the album. It’s very good and he blends all of his musical influences together. Every track sounds different, but it is a very well put together and cohesive album. This could very well win album of the year: it’s that good.

To the crying snowflakes b*tching about Gary's message on this album, I dare you to spend a week in a black man's shoes, translate your feelings into music, and elevate that experience into high art. If you can accomplish that, then feel free to b*tch and moan about another human being's experiences that dare to take you out of your smug, self-righteous delusion of privilege. BUT, if you can do none of this, and can't accomplish getting your head out of your own rear end, go back to listening to Elvis.

Gary Clark Jr. continues to shine. His talent grows every time he plays his guitar. I’m excited at the possibility of his best work still being in front of him. That said, this album is intensely great! Now, for the people down on the messages of his music, and especially the “just play the blues” crowd, shut up. Do you even understand what many blues musicians sing about? Look up some history. Please. Clark is carrying the torch on all levels and carving out his own path as well.

I absolutely love the talent in GCjr. He is singing of his experience which is what makes great pieces of art. Why would he cater to anyone else - this would not be genuine. Get over yourselves critics and listen to his words about his story and respect what life is like for him. Is it my favorite? Certainly not but it’s his story and I am honored to be on the receiving end of it.
  • Finally a great blues/rock album!

Pay no attention to the racist haters. This album is amazing. Yes it speaks out against the political tyranny in US politics right now which needs to be said. Musically, so often I hear amazing blues players but the songs are not great. Gary Clark Jr. is a great song writer and player. I love the mix between hip hop/soul/funk/blues. It's a fresh take on blues today. Thank you Gary Clark Jr. you're amazing.
